Gua sha has a reputation for being complicated — diagrams, angles, ten-step routines. Ignore all of it. The version that works is the version you'll actually do, and that one takes two minutes.
Step 1: Oil first, always
A gua sha stone should glide, never drag. Press 3–4 drops of rosehip oil over your face and neck. Rosehip is the classic pairing: light, fast-absorbing, and rich in linoleic acid, so it won't sit greasy under the stone.
Step 2: Up and out
- Jaw: from chin along the jawline to your ear, 5 strokes per side.
- Cheeks: from nose to temple, 5 strokes.
- Brow: from brow bone up to hairline, 5 strokes.
- Neck: base of neck upward, 5 strokes — most people skip this; it's the best part.
Keep the stone almost flat against your skin — 15 degrees, light pressure. You're moving fluid, not carving marble.
Why people keep doing it
The immediate payoff is release — jaw tension you didn't know you were holding. The visible payoff, with daily use, is a less puffy, more defined-looking face, especially along the jaw.
The set that has both pieces
Our Gua Sha Ritual Set pairs a real jade stone with a bottle of cold-pressed rosehip oil in one gift box, so the whole ritual arrives together. Ships from a US warehouse — and code BLOOM10 takes 10% off your first order.
Bonus tip: chill the stone in the fridge first. Cold + sculpting in one pass is the whole FrostGlow philosophy.
